The globe-like flowers are borne in June and July and will tower over the garden at up to 2.5 metres tall! Even before these sculptural blooms appear the buds will draw in curious eyes with their elongated tails on onion shaped yellow-green spheres. Then, after the flowers fade, the seedheads remain as extended autumnal and even winter interest. The nectar-rich purple blooms are attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinators, fitting well into cottage garden schemes as well as modern, urban styles. Plant Allium ‘Summer Drummer’ in well-drained soil of any kind. Position in full sun for best impact.
