Originating from the stony slopes and scrub of Columbia and Peru, Alonsoa meridioalis ‘Rebel’ is a bushy, robust, half-hardy perennial (often grown as an annual), prized for its free-flowering habit. From June until October, masses of delicate yet striking, orange-scarlet flowers provide a rich, warm, bright display of summer colour, borne above toothed, ovate to lance-shaped, mid-green leaves. Alonsoa is perfect for containers, or for use as a summer bedding plant in a mixed border. Alternatively, it can be grown all year round in a temperate conservatory, in which case a winter-flowering habit is likely.
Prefers any fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. H&S: 60cm x 40cm. Half-hardy perennial (to 0°C), suitable in most of the UK to be either treated as an annual or overwintered indoors.
