Fully hardy Japanese Anemone x hybrida ‘Honorine Jobert’ is a must have for every autumn garden, sure to brighten up any shady spot. Clumps of dark green, divided leaves are topped by tall wiry stems, each holding several pure white single flowers and bright yellow stamens that are just perfect for attracting local butterflies and bees. The common name Windflower is accounted for in several ways, one of which is William Turner’s statement ‘The flower never openth itselfe, but when the wynde bloweth’. With elegant poise, ‘Honorine Jobert’ wave showy flowers high above maple-like leaves, providing movement in your garden. Originating in China, the Japanese Anemones have been cultivated in Japan for centuries hence the name. Anemone x hybrida ‘Honorine Jobert’ has been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding performance in the garden. Like all Anemone, ‘Honorine Jobert’ is loved by bees and butterflies while being slug, rabbit, and deer resistant. She is incredibly versatile and thrives in almost any soil, including near the coast, for years without any winter protection. Reaching a mature height of 1.2m and spread of approximately 75cm, she is said to be happiest in moist, well-drained soil in sunny or partially shady borders and containers.
