This ‘Eccentric Tulip Collection’ comprises; ‘Sugar Crystal’ – a Darwin variety which is as sweet as candy with exquisite, feathery petals that form large blousy blooms in April and May - the vibrant, deep pink shades blend to softer pink towards the edges of the petals, height 40cm; ‘Crunchy Cummins’ – a curious Fringed variety, single blooms change colour after emerging purple, turning purple-pink as they mature in April and May, height 45cm; and ‘Green Wave’ – a single Parrot variety with large, frilly blooms, each bright petal is green in the middle, fading through creamy yellow to blush pink at the edges, height 60cm.
Originating from hot, dry habitats, tulips prefer to grow in fertile, sharply drained soil in full sun - heavy clay can be avoided by growing in containers. Hardy (H6), bulbous perennials, allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering to reinvigorate the bulb in readiness for the following year.
