Tell Me More...
This fuchsia is named ‘Tom Thumb’ for one good reason – because this plant is one of the smallest of the hardy bush fuchsias. If you are short of space, need a plant which will not take up much room, yet is colourful, looks spectacular and improves with age; then Fuchsia ‘Tom Thumb’ is for you. The corolla is a deep violet, with the sepals and anthers in shrimp pink. Free flowering from June until the first frosts, ‘Tom Thumb’ produces masses of flowers. This bush fuchsia was introduced in 1850 and has stood the test of time, in fact such is the glory of this shrub, it holds the accolade of being given The Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit. An exceptional hardy bush fuchsia, which prefers fertile, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade, growing to a height and spread of 30-45cm.
