Tell Me More...
Primula x acaulis ‘Rubens Antique Rose’ is one of the first to appear in springtime. Richly coloured, scented double blooms unfurl in antique shades of apricots, peaches and yellows. Flowers resemble cottage garden roses and nestle above rosettes of deeply marked green foliage. As a woodland plant, primula prefers a position in semi-shade and likes humus rich soil of any kind, although they are tough enough to do well in most spots if not exposed to baking hot sun or drought conditions. Primula x acaulis ‘Rubens Antique Rose’ is a low growing, hardy (H6) perennial and one of the first flowers to brighten up the garden in springtime. The leaves will die back over the summer and then, if given the right conditions, will re-emerge during the winter months. Plant ‘en masse’ for blocks of colour or in containers to create a focal point in the garden and remember to deadhead in order to prolong flowering. Primula x acaulis ‘Rubens Antique Rose’ looks stunning mixed with spring bulbs and the deep green foliage will act as a foil to any colour scheme you choose.
