A fabulous and subtle Weigela - Weigela Ebony and Ivory, as the name suggests, is a classy monochromatic plant.Deep green foliage is edged almost black and darkens to a beautiful deep-plum shade as it matures, helping the plentiful clusters of white blooms to glow in May and June when they flower. Weigela Ebony and Ivory grows best in moist, well-drained soil which is fertile and will reach an eventual height of 50cm and spread of 1m wide. Thrives in a spot in full sun or part-shade. Prune longer stems back to the base immediately after flowering and lightly prune the remaining stems to maintain a neat growing habit and promote fresh, flowering growth for the following year. Great as shrubby groundcover and as a backdrop to smaller plants which will shine against the foil of deep foliage. This Weigela is also lovely when grown in a large pot.
