An exciting new arrival for 2024. Allium Mercurius, is the perfect bulb for adding architectural interest to your borders and containers. Its hemispherical clusters reach up to 12cm across and are composed of many small, violet-pink blooms packed tightly together. Flowers emerge after the foliage and are held on strong, slender stems, reaching a height of approximately 80cm. Allium ‘Mercurius’ is loved by bees and butterflies so your garden will be a hive of activity during June, when bulbs flower. Allium were once known for their medical, culinary, and aphrodisiac qualities. Foliage emits a slightly oniony fragrance, hence its common name. Nowadays alliums are a favourite in RHS Show Gardens, and we think that no garden should be without at least one. Blooms also make incredible cut flowers, lasting well in a vase.
